Planning Your Next Home Remodeling Project
As 2016 comes to a close, many people may be thinking of a new remodeling project for 2017. Here are a few things to keep in mind if you want a head start:
Plan on Planning Ahead
Most major home renovations can require 2-3 months of planning before the work actually starts. This includes the initial consultation, preliminary budgeting, design, selections, scheduling, and permitting. It’s better to start now to get the ball rolling on this exciting process. For a thorough analysis of expectations and time frames in remodeling, check out this post our blog.
Don’t Wait for the New Year
Remodeling activity slows down before and during the holidays but returns to full speed after the chaos subsides. This means that the phone rings off the hook starting January 2nd and the schedules of most trade contractors fill up fast. No matter what type of home improvement you may need, it’s wise to schedule that appointment well in advance.
Winter Projects Mean Summer Enjoyment
Don’t let “seasonal” projects dictate your timeline. In the South, there’s really no bad season to remodel. Even though a warm weather screen porch project may not be on your winter radar, it doesn’t mean it can’t be built before the summer. If you want to stay cool, sipping lemonade under the roof of your beautiful new porch this summer, start your planning today.
Like Benjamin Franklin once said, “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.” For more information on how to plan your future remodeling project, check out our Getting Started page.
