Robinson Woods Kitchen
Back to all projects
The kitchen was dark, and the existing cabinetry was of poor quality. The client felt closed in. The space was long and narrow, yet the client wanted a massive island. How do we allow for enough clearance with such a narrow space? How can we incorporate a mudroom space? Can we incorporate the existing interior brickwork within the new plan? With a future outdoor kitchen planned, how can we make the interior space flow seamlessly to the rear yard?
Through extensive thought and collaboration, creative space planning, and meticulous execution, the end result proved to be a versatile new space with many needed functions, all seamlessly flowing as one. The light crème colored cabinetry, classic white marble countertops and range splash, and intricate backsplash mosaics are all beautifully illuminated by an array of natural, task, accent, and under cabinet lighting, creating a bright and airy new space. The subtle paint tones of the kitchen and unique wallpaper selections of the powder room, mudroom, and laundry provide a broad display of wall coverings, highlighting the desired bright and airy feel. By maintaining the integrity of the original home, the natural tones and textures of the hardwood flooring and brickwork around the range contrasts yet complements the smooth finishes of the newer materials quite well. Now, the client can host a huge outdoor party that flows from the outside into the kitchen, as guests converse around a huge island with ample seating, as the hosts prepare a gourmet meal!
