Deerfield Creek Bathroom
Back to all projects
The challenge with this particular bathroom was that the space was too large, creating what the homeowner described as a cold, cavernous feel. The space felt uninviting with a harsh natural light, and the vaulted ceilings caused an echo reverberating throughout the room. The corner tub deck was bulky and obtrusive, affecting the flow from the master bathroom to the closet. The existing shower was also very large, but the awkward shape forced a less than ideal door location, which created the illusion of a confined space. It was imperative to the homeowner that we create a peaceful, inviting space that was conducive to a relaxing soak in the tub.
In order to achieve a more inviting space, we used a variety of contrasting finishes and tones, including polished porcelain tile, honed marble tops, intricate inset mosaics, and dark maple stain for the cabinetry and mirror trim. The new window softened the natural light, allowing the use of decorative accent lighting, beautifully illuminating the sleek finishes and clean lines of the entire space. In the end, by essentially reducing the size of the room and its individual components, while utilizing softer tones, we created a warm, peaceful sanctuary with a soothingly spacious feel.
