New Year, Same Focus

Looking back exactly a year ago, our focus heading into 2023 was to chart our own path, free from the low standards brought on by the COVID era. The “new norm” as they call it included supply chain delays, a shortage of skilled labor, longer schedules, and in general, just a whole bunch of excuses. We said it then, and we’ll say it again. We don’t like excuses, and we’re not willing to accept lower standards.

As a result, 2023 was our best year yet! That didn’t come without an abundance of unique challenges, but through sheer effort, determination, and good old-fashioned hard work, we were able to navigate those challenges and raise the bar once again. In 2024, it’s time to take things to a new level.

Last year, our amazing team of skilled professionals worked tirelessly to improve our systems and processes to enhance the client experience. Now that everything is in place, we’re reenergized to make the client experience in 2024 even better! That includes better communication with the client every step of the way, anticipating surprises that others don’t see, and saving the client time and money. We’re not only presenting the best solution in our design process but offering the right solution for each family’s needs.

We’re continuing to do things the right way the first time, even if it’s the more difficult path to choose. And through all of this, we’re strengthening our relationship with the client as an extension of our family. All of these things truly mean something to us, because they are in perfect alignment with our core values: Trust, Vision, Pride and Family. 2024 looks to be “one of those years,” with no shortage of drama and uncertainty on the horizon. At DiFabion Remodeling, the only thing we know for certain is that we’re laser-focused on improving the client experience, and NOTHING will get in our way!

Staycation

Every year around this time, the winter wonder begins to wear off, and we start longing for warmer days and fun in the sun. One of our recent clients was looking for that same summertime vacation feel in the comfort of their own home. The existing backyard was prime for a more enjoyable setup other than a weathered old deck baking in the summer heat. The goal was to expand the home by adding a sunroom and covered porch, leading out to a custom swimming pool for maximum enjoyment.

Through an extensive and collaborative design process, we were able to create a backyard oasis, seamlessly flowing from the inside out. This beautiful project was both practical and impactful, featuring a sunroom and covered porch addition with maximum window coverage, vaulted beadboard ceilings, an outdoor kitchenette and grilling station, and a composite deck and railing system leading down to the new pool. There’s even an outdoor fireplace and heaters to enjoy the new space any time of year. Check out how we brought the enjoyment of summer vacation home for this family to enjoy for years to come!

Welcome to the Team

DiFabion Remodeling is excited to announce a new addition to the DR Family! Our newest project developer, DJ Lapanne, comes to us with a wealth of knowledge in the remodeling industry and a fascinating life journey leading him and his family to Charlotte. DJ was born and raised in small-town Maryland before he joined the Navy. While honorably serving his country, DJ would take college courses and work part-time in the construction industry, eventually honing his project management skills in residential, commercial, and hospitality. He and his wife ultimately opened their own residential remodeling firm while raising five children! By 2023, two of their sons graduated high school and set off for the Marines and Air Force, leaving the last of the five to join DJ and his wife Jessica for a new opportunity in North Carolina. This led DJ to DiFabion Remodeling, where his unique life experiences will no doubt bring fun and excitement to the DR client experience for many years and many projects down the road!

Sustainable Interior Designs

Sustainable interior design is the perfect balance between beautiful aesthetics and environmental responsibility. There are many benefits to using sustainable products, including improved health and well-being, as well as significant cost savings on your home. Creating eco-friendly homes has become a top priority for many people and for a good reason. There are many ways to make your home environmentally friendly yet functional and stylish.

One of the best ways to save energy is by using energy-efficient lighting. Utilizing LED instead of traditional incandescent bulbs can save a significant amount of energy and life span. By incorporating windows with maximum visibility, an abundance of natural light reduces the need for artificial lighting, creating a bright and inviting space.

While most modern day appliances are Energy Star and eco-friendly, there has been a rise in popularity of induction cooking. Induction cooktops and ranges are the fastest, most efficient way of generating heat through the electromagnetic transfer of energy from the glass surface directly to magnetic cookware. Compared to electric or gas, induction cooking is safer, faster, and more environmentally friendly. The few downsides to induction appliances include a modestly higher price tag and the need for compatible cookware (must use stainless steel or cast iron, no aluminum).

Lastly, try using sustainable materials and finishes that are renewable, reusable, or environmentally friendly. Materials like bamboo, cork, reclaimed wood, and recycled glass are excellent options that are also aesthetically pleasing and add so much warmth to your home!
