Providence Country Club Bonus Room
Project Overview
The homeowners had considered finishing their third floor attic but were unable to figure out how to work around a raised platform area that divided the space. How could the space be finished as a bar and entertainment area, but also accommodate sleeping for two or three when guests visited?
By turning a negative into a positive, we designated the existing platform as the actual bar that “overlooked” the entire area. Then, instead of creating a separate “bedroom”, we designed custom cabinetry that housed built-in Murphy beds, so when guests arrived, the whole third floor could be transformed into a bedroom, thus eliminating the need to compartmentalize. In essence we created a full third floor of entertainment, that within 5 minutes, could be converted into a private guest suite. This creative design resulted in “two rooms in one”.
