Taking Inventory During the Holidays

As October comes to a close, we all know what’s right around the corner through the end of the year: “The Holidays.” What does that mean? First and foremost, it means family. If you’re not traveling to create those special holiday moments, family is usually coming to you. What else? Food. Almost every major holiday event is centered around food. Eat, drink, and be merry! Lastly, “The Holidays” means giving.

Giving thanks to others and what we have, giving to those less fortunate, and giving (and receiving) love to those most special in our lives. So, what does this all have to do with remodeling?

This holiday season, when you’re spending time with the ones you love, take inventory of the things in your home that could improve the holiday experience. Do you have the space to entertain? Is your kitchen equipped to prepare food for extra guests? Is there a place for everyone to gather while you’re preparing food? Which bathroom will they use? Is there a place for the kids to hang out while the adults unwind?

Rather than venting about all the things you DON’T LIKE about your home, take the first steps to discover what will make you and your guests LOVE your home. Give yourself permission to make those improvements and give your guests the five-star experience! It may be too late to make those changes now, but it never hurts to plan for next year because “The Holidays” are always right around the corner!

Tiffany Gabrel is originally from Hickory, NC, and attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she attained her bachelor’s degree in interior architecture. After graduation, Tiffany moved to Charlotte, looking for more opportunities in her design career. With over three years of design experience, ranging from hospitality to commercial design, Tiffany sought a more personal and fulfilling approach to her work. She found her place at DiFabion, where she enjoys building close relationships with clients and creating designs that inspire, bring joy, and breathe new life into their homes.

Outside of design, Tiffany loves to travel with her fiancé, Danny, and explore the outdoors, whether it’s biking, kayaking, or hiking with their beagle, Bailey. She also has a passion for cooking and cherishes spending time with her family.

Project Profile

The parents of two young boys were looking for an extension of the home that could function as a sunroom or a separate playroom for the boys. The existing “sunroom” was virtually unusable. Besides the comical dimensions, it was poorly built and borderline unsafe.

They wanted the new space to feel like they were outdoors but with added comfort, allowing it to be used year-round. Privacy and noise protection were a must but without sacrificing natural sun and that outdoorsy feel. The end result was a new space versatile enough for rambunctious boys or adults gathering for drinks and games!
